Balloon Festival

Even though Nate was away, I managed to get the kids up early and off to watch the Balloons over Waikato. We had breakfast at the lake while we waited for the balloons to inflate, then oohed and aahed as they flew overhead. It was a bit chilly but we had a great time.
Here's Ammon with "Mr Bup" behind him.

I wish we had something like that here that I could take the girls to. Looks like a lot of fun. Lucky the weather was nice.

My boys loved it. However it made the day extra long for them and they fell fast asleep on the ride home to Auckland. Logan can't wait to show dad the photos of the balloons when he gets home.

It's really cool to have free family activities to go to. We took breakfast and ate it after they'd woken up properly.
The best part for me was getting my own back on the boys by waking them up while it was still dark!
The Birthday Cake with 20 candles was a huge hit. We watched four of them inflate (then lift off) and the kids felt the tremendous heat firing them up. There must have been 15 to 20 of them floating around. The sun rise was very spectacular too.

Yvette, Dad has given me a newspaper clipping to send up to you so the boys can show their Dad the balloons.
